Second Attack Wave

One hour after the first wave of Japanese
planes broke over Oahu, the second wave
of attackers arrived. This followup assault
consisted of 78 Val dive-bombers, 54 Kate
high-level bombers, and 35 Zero fighters.
As the second wave approached Oahu, it
split into three groups to attack specific
targets. The 54 Kate bombers struck the
main airfields, while the 35 Zero fighters
strafed Hickam Field, Kaneohe Naval Air
Station, and Wheeler Field.
